Monday Glimpses

Oh Monday Listicles, how I’ve missed you so!

Seriously, I love Stasha’s lists and have been really bummed to have been too busy/exhausted/stressed for the past few weekends so I’m very to be back. And I love this week’s format of random questions. I always have fun reading these kinds of posts and learning more about other people – hope you enjoy mine!

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 23, and find line 4. What is it?
I cheated a little on this one so the whole statement would make sense.

Breath is aligned to both body and mind and it alone is the tool which can bring both together, illuminating both and bringing both peace and calm.
– The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

2. How many times a day do you say Hi?
Hmm…maybe once or twice. I don’t get out much.

3. Have you ever worn a uniform?
Yes, green plaid skirts and white shirts from 1st through 8th grade. We wanted to have a ceremonial fire and burn them at our 8th grade graduation but didn’t have the guts – lol!

4. What do you think about the most?
Several thoughts and subjects are often on my mind: my older son, our family moving to CO., my toddler starting preschool next year, when am I going to have time to write, how can I schedule my days better

5. How many keys are on your keyring?
Car and house keys.

6. What was the last thing you bought?
This super cute, colorful purse for $3, second hand. It just makes me feel happy to look at it.
My new, bright, colorful purse

7. Are you growing anything these days?

No but I would love to someday have a garden grow some of our own food.

8. What is under your bed?
A monster! But a cute one, like these:
ugly dolls

9. What is most important in life?

Health, happiness and love.
my beautiful little family; me, Josh and Lou

10. What is the strangest word you used this week?

I was watching old episodes of The Trailer Park Boys on Netflix and there is a character that can’t read very well and always pronounces words incorrectly.

In this episode, he thinks jalapeno is pronounced “ja-lap-in-oes”. I could not stop giggling so of course, I’ve been trying to use “jalapinoes” as often as possible.

*Super funny show if you are not easily offended. Very politically incorrect but you grow to love the characters. Well, I did anyway. So you’ve been warned!

  1. Great list! I love all the pictures. We say jalapinos too – we once heard someone at Taco Del Mar order a Ba-jah bowl with extra jalapinos. I’m not even kidding about that. Pus, I heard it on a commercial once and thought it was hilarious.

    • Oh my gosh, I wish I could hear someone order jalapinoes in real life – haha! That is awesome! Thanks for reading Brandee!

    • I really want one of those ugly dolls – not for my son but for me! They are so cute to me….the show is awesome, so bad and so good at the same time. Thanks so much for reading Stasha!

  2. Okay — the jalapenos comment, too funny. And yes, you will enjoy that time when your child starts preschool. But that time quickly gets filled up. How does that happen? Hopefully, you can be more productive writing wise than I. Great family pic.

    • Haha – glad you liked my weird word and thank you about our little family pic as well :) I know, I am going to have to be really time conscious when preschool starts, anytime I have free time now, it flies by at top speed so I’m sure this will be the same. Still though, it seems so nice…Thanks so much for reading!

    • Thanks so much! I have not used it yet but can’t wait. Right not, I just love looking at it ;) Thanks so much for reading Christie!

    • Haha – you have my total respect by admitting that about my new bag! Thanks so much for stopping by Wayne!

    • Well, I think it there may be several acceptable pronunciations of that word – lol! I’m going to use it next time we go out for Mexican food just to watch people’s faces. Thanks so much for reading Deborah!

    • Thank you Katie! I really do love that show, just watched more episodes last night. Very funny but definitely nothing politically correct :) Thanks so much for stopping by Katie!

  3. Agree with everyone – lovin’ the bag! I’m all about thrifting these days. Saves money, good for the environment, unique pieces, gotta love it!

    • Thank you! I love buying second hand for all those reasons as well. Finding special, unique pieces is always fun. Thanks so much for reading!

  4. What a fun bag, and how thrifty are you to have scored it second hand! I too hope to grow some veggies in the backyard. Hopefully next year :)

  5. Love the purse! And your uniform looks just like the one I wore in 1966, but mine was red. I only did one year in Catholic school, my parents ran out of money with me being the fourth. They used to hate when I told the story that way, but I really don’t know why they pulled me out if it wasn’t due to tuition…

    • You never forget those school uniforms, even if you only have to wear them a short time. How I hated those scratchy, green skirts! Now I’d love to send my son to private school if we could ever afford it. High tuition costs do make things hard, it has to be a tough decision for all parents to make. Thanks so much for reading Ellie!

    • Thanks! I don’t always get lucky but when I find something like that purse, it’s always fun! Thanks so much for reading!

  6. Love the bag, even better you got it at a bargain… I love bargain shopping!!! I hope to one day have a garden too. One step at a time.

  7. We have a big garden this year and I am just amazed at how much better veggies taste from the garden compared with the grocery store. You’ll love it if you do it!

    • Yes – I can’t wait! Everyone says that, I bet everything tastes much better straight from your own garden. I think it’ll be fun as well. Thanks so much for reading Ducky!

    • Yay – you know the boys by name!!! Haha! I honestly do love that show, especially Bubbles and all his kitties :) I’m proud I was able to bring the Trailer Park Boys to Monday Listicles. Thanks so much for reading Rory!

    • Thank you – I used the bag for the first time today, love it! And love that out of control show :) Thanks Audrey!

    • Thank you, I don’t always find anything I like that much but I’m so happy with this purse. Anything that makes me feel happy just looking at it is a good thing. Thanks so much for reading Bridget!
