Retro clock on fall leaves sky background

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year.

I love everything about it. I always feel as if there’s a shift in the atmosphere. The air feels and smells different. And I feel lighter, happier, more free and at peace.

So with all the busyness that comes with the end of summer for me, I’m reveling in it. Anxiously eying my softest sweaters, moving boots to the front of the closet, day dreaming about home made soup and being wrapped in blankets while a cold, crisp wind blows and maybe even a few snow flakes fall.

Getting ahead of myself? Probably. I can’t help it.
I have hated the burning summer and humidity and now, finally I see relief just around the corner.

The busyness I mention is all the family events that fall in September:

  • The beginning of month is our wedding anniversary!
  • My older son’s birthday is this month, he will be 17.
  • My toddler, Lou, started preschool last week and although we both cried the first day when I had to leave him (ok, I sobbed), he really loves school. He will also be celebrating a birthday in just a few weeks.

And this very post I’m writing on this September evening is the 100th post I’ve written for this blog. A blog that I was scared to begin and had no idea where it would lead. I had no idea how much I would learn from it and that I would become so thankful for this outlet and for every single person who reads it.

Each of these events are very deserving of their own post but after a few attempts and some seriously frustrating writers block, I decided to stop fighting and just…..”be” for a little while.

Maybe it’s my excitement about the coming seasonal changes, maybe it’s the happiness that flows from our anniversary and beginning preschool and coming birthdays but I’m finally settling back in and words seem to be flowing now.

I hope the end of summer and beginning of school and all the changes that fall brings is going well for you.

Nothing is permanent, change is the only constant.

And this is a time of change I embrace with open arms and a welcoming heart.

  • Congrats! I have been meaning to read your blog lately. I have missed a few posts :(. At least I got to this one Congrats! Wooo! 100! Also, congrats on the anniversary and the birthdays! Looks like things are going well. As for me, this is a sad time, I LOVE the summer! And am always sad for the end. I do also enjoy the transitions of the smells and whatnot though. Hooray for you! xoxo

    • Oh, I’m sorry you are sad about summer. The transitions of the seasons are some of my favorite parts. I think because I grew up around mild and colder weather, that’s what feels the most comfortable to me now. And the humidity where we live now is off the charts! Thank you so much for reading Chelle and for the congratulations!

  • Stopping by from SITS Saturday!
