Joy All Around

I’ll just come out and say it, things haven’t been super wonderful lately. I had been feeling down for a while and as things are definitely on an upswing now, a sweet reminder to look at the lovely and good things in life is awesomely welcomed.

I also have to admit, I don’t always have my act together to make Stasha’s Monday Listicles but I often read them and they always make me smile.

When I saw what Wendy at Stamping Rules! picked as the topic this week, I jumped at the chance to join up once again:

My 10 Must Haves For Fall

There are few things I love the way I love the season of Fall so I can’t tell you how excited I was when I saw my favorite list maker, Stasha at The Good Life, decided to make this week’s Monday Listicle topic: TOP 10 AUTUMN MUST HAVES to get us in the mood for the season.

I love the way the air smells different in the fall, the colder weather, the longer nights…what can I say? I grew up in the Pacific North West, land of perpetual fall-ish weather. Fall feels like home to me.

Memories of Summers Past

Monday Listicles time again, this one with a summer theme! Perfect for the week I’ve had here.

But first, in last week’s list (husbands and homes), I’d mentioned that the last house we lived in was haunted. It seemed like people were interested in hearing about what happened there from the comments I received so I decided to post the story.

It’s a long one, too long for a single post in my opinion so I split it up.

Husbands and Homes

Last Friday, my hard drive met it’s maker. I probably should not even admit this but one of the things I was most upset about was not being able to do last week’s listicle topic, 10 Things Husbands Should Do, an absolutely brilliant topic!

After getting my laptop back on Monday and getting things back up and running, I was at least able to read some of the awesome, funny and extremely creative lists some of you did on the subject.

I guess I’m still not over it because I could not resist doing a little combo list this week of 5 and 5.

Super Powers and Living Without Limits

As I mentioned last week, I am incredibly honored and excited to have had Stasha from North West Mommy give me the opportunity to choose this week’s listicle topic!

Monday Listicles – The Books Edition!

I was so excited about this week’s listicle topics – books! I love books so much, libraries and bookstores are sacred places to me so I could not wait to share some of the books I love.

Equally as cool and exciting, the list master Stasha herself is giving me the opportunity to choose next week’s topic! I immediately had 2 ideas.

I still can’t decide between them so pick the one you like or do a combo of both and get crazy with it:

#2 – You have 48 hours free of all responsibilities and unlimited cash, what 10 things would you do, places you’d go, etc.

But back to the books, where to even begin? Pick 10 favorites? I can’t choose a favorite child! So I tried this kind of unorganized categories approach. Let’s see how this goes…

1. Favorite kids book – I Love You Stinky Face

No matter what this little boy thinks of, there is nothing he can imagine becoming that would make his mom stop loving and caring for him. I’ve read this to both of my boys, over and over and over.

Along The Road

I love these recent Monday Listicle topics; Things That Make Life Easier, Guilty Pleasures and now from list master StashaTen Things That Come to Mind Regarding The Road.

I definitely went with a more freestyle/stream of consciousness on this one and only listed five this time but I think it’s a solid five. Hope you Enjoy!

1. The first thing that came to mind for me was one of my favorite books, On the Road by Jack Kerouac. This book is still really special to me as I can open it up anytime, start reading and get sucked back in the beautiful, sad, exciting adventures and fall madly in love with the beats and old Jack. Below is one of my favorite quotes from the book:

“They danced down the streets like dingledodies, and I shambled after as I’ve been doing all my life after people who interest me, because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones that never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn…”

Guilty Pleasures

It’s my favorite time again – Stashas Famous Monday Listicles! I always look forward to making my list and this week’s topic makes me even more excited. 10 guilty pleasures was chosen by Miss Marina Star, mom by day, nurse by night, superhero all the time!

As much as I love yoga, actually enjoy working out and quit meat for a more fruit and vegetable based diet, I’m still not as healthy as it may seem. I’m better than I used to be but like The Force itself, I too have a dark side that must be kept in check.

Monday Listicle – Living the Good (Easy) Life

Looks relaxing, doesn't it? I'm feeling super pampered after writing this one.

I love shows on discovery channel, especially shows about surviving off the land. Man Woman Wild is one of my favorites but I also got kind of obsessed with a special they showed called Alaska: The Last Frontier. The show is about Kilcher family who truly live off the land, have no running water and eat whatever they grow, fish or hunt for.

I absolutely love the beautiful area in Alaska where this family lives. I love the idea of a log cabin on a big plot of land, far from city noise and annoying neighbors but I also know my limits. I’m no Kilcher. I admire and marvel at the way they live, so simply and naturally with the land but after watching the show, I immediately think about all the things I’d miss or may not really even know how to cope without in my modern day existence.

So, for this weeks listicle subject from TerriTen things/people/services that make life easier, I immediately thought of some of the things I think I’d seriously miss should I ever try and take on a real life discovery channel type of “survive in the wild” expedition.
